How He Speaks

I've stayed up too late again.

Trying to catch up. Forget getting ahead.

Laying in bed, I can't sleep. Worries of all I didn't get done keep sleep far from me.

He speaks . .

My children's faces come to mind, especially the ones who have left home. The peace I have about their paths. Peace that takes into account their mistakes, struggles, and "what-ifs". Peace that is sure because of who He is in their lives.

Because of how He loves and keeps His own.

And I fall asleep with this thought . . am I not one of His own?

The morning comes, and the duties, obligations and tasks overwhelm.

"It's too much for one person, one day. No matter HOW willing I am! And I'm not even so sure I'm willing.

Flipping through emails, Facebook, and internet, I come across this video on Holley Gerth's site:

He speaks . .

I look out and see the bowl of bird seed I'd set out just two days ago is empty. I didn't even see the birds come. I face the morning cold (not like me at all), because I want to feed the birds. Emptying the bag into the bowl, I imagine their feast. And my heart is warmed. I hope to see them enjoying their supply today.

He speaks . .

birds . .

heavenly Father feeds them . .

are not you more valuable?

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" ~Matthew 6:26-27

"Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds." ~The Message

I walk inside.

He speaks . .

And this song plays in my head: "You are good. You are good when there's nothing good in me. You are love. You are love on display for all to see. You are light. You are light when the darkness closes in. You are hope. You are hope. You have covered all my sin. Oh, I'm running to Your arms. I'm running to Your arms. The riches of Your love will always be enough. Nothing compares to Your embrace. Light of the world forever reign."

I go to sit by the window hoping to see the birds.

He speaks . .

I hear these words coming from my Pandora station: "Our God is greater, stronger, healer, greater than any other . . . and if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us and if our God is with us than what can stand against?"

He speaks.

And I rest.
